DTR / Street Survival One Lap of America Facebook Causes Page

Kevin Kreisa of DTR Performance and Anthony Magagnoli drove 3500 miles in the TireRack One Lap of America / Cannonball Run event to raise money and awareness for Street Survival for teens. They drove and raced a highly modified and custom fabricated turbocharged E30 BMW 325iS built by Kevin Kreisa of DTR Performance. On track lapping was done by hot shoe Anthony Magagnoli. They placed first in SSGT2SB class, 4th Overall, BMW Marque Award, and Rookies of the Year. You can read about their endeavor in Anthony's Survival of the Fastest article in the July 2010 Roundel Magazine and look for them in the upcoming MotorTrend Magazine in the One Lap of America article.

View their Facebook page to learn more about their effort and how you can help support Street Survival.

Help Support Street Survival for Teens

Tire Rack Street Survival
In the USA, 20 teens will die today in car accidents. The mission of Street Survival® is to teach teenagers safe driving in today's modern urban environment. Automobile accidents are the leading cause of death among 13- to 19-year-olds in the U.S. – more than from drugs, guns and violent crimes COMBINED! And a whopping 62% of all teenage automobile passenger deaths occurred in vehicles driven by another teen!
Street Survival is unique in that it is a nationwide "hands-on" driving school for teens that provides them with real-world emergency situations related to car safety and the control of their own vehicles. In 2009, the Foundation held 79 Street Survival schools across the U.S. in many urban communities. With your help, we can reach our goal of 85 schools for 2010.

Please help support Street Survival for Teens.

Honorable Mentions

MotorTrend - 2010 One Lap of America: The Rise of the Giant-Killers at Mid-America
"Yet there were four bewildering performances by newbie teams, aka "Lap Pups" as they're affectionately been dubbed. The highlights follow.
1990 BMW 325is
BMW is easily the most represented brand this year. The One Lap crew is using a fleet of 5 and 3 Series graciously provided by the BMW Performance School, and there's a small army of M-badged coupes and roadsters flooding the pits. The fastest one, though, is a 1990 325is. It's sitting comfy at 12th overall right now after two top ten finishes today.

How? It's stupid fast. "It's above 400-horse -- probably 450 to 500 horsepower," says car owner and builder Kevin Kreisa. The engine is a straight-six from an E36 328i with an 82 millimeter Garrett GT35 turbocharger feeding air to Extrudabody individual throttle bodies. All the plumbing, in fact most of the car, is Kreisa's handiwork: He fabricated it all with hand tools in his shop, DTR Performance.

At 2750 pounds in race trim, the Bimmer's exceptionally light too. Driver Anthony Magagnoli, a regular Spec E30 racer, was "well into fifth" at Road America yesterday, putting speed at above 150 mph.

"I was genuinely concerned for my life," he said -- it was his first time there.

Despite using technology two decades old, first-time One Lappers Magagnoli and Kreisa are clobbering genuine giants. Their cumulative lap times for both events today bested those of both a Porsche GT3 RS and a Turbo."

MotorTrend - One Lap of America: Edging Towards the Home Stretch
"Kevin Kreisa's BMW 325is continues its shockingly breakneck pace. Driver Anthony Magagnoli knows Mid-Ohio well, placing the 1990 3 Series third in the morning and fourth in the afternoon. The team is sixth in overall points, quite frankly competing in a way that a two-decade old car shouldn't."

MotorTrend - 2010 One Lap of America: The Crucible of Road America
"In the midst of all the drama, there are some great performances. Leh Keen and his TopSpeed GT2 ultimately claim the day, but the GT-Rs are nibbling close behind. Dan and Kyle Corcoran are hungry too, and Dan puts his Corvette in the top five in both events. A highly modified but nonetheless late-80's BMW 325is managed to fend off a new Porsche 911 Turbo for seventh in both events".

MotorTrend - One Lap of America 2010: Local Legends and the Exhibition Class
"Kevin Kreisa and Anthony Magagnoli's E30 325is sneaks up to fourth in the morning session, but gets pushed to fifth in the afternoon by the Corvette Z06 of Jeremy Herzberg, Danny Popp, and Todd Rumpke."

MotorTrend - One Lap of America 2010: The End
"With a 0.962 g average, Hugh Bate and Rene von Richthofen's stock Porsche 911 Turbo falls to fifth overall. Replacing the Porsche is the turbo E30 325is, which lays down a 0.995 g average."

AutoBlog - One Lap 2010: The Weekend That Was
"Perhaps more interesting than the top five finishers is the appearance of some unlikely machinery in the top 10, including the #39 BMW 325is of driver Anthony Magagnoli. The 1990 3 Series seems like an unlikely sixth place finisher, even wearing its period M3 bodywork. But thanks to an extensive diet, and a E36-sourced motor with a Garrett turbo strapped on, the elderly BMW has been surprising more powerful and far costlier machinery since One Lap began. Proving its performance was no fluke, Magagnoli would back up his first run with another sixth place finish."

Autoblog - 2010 One Lap of America: No. 3 Porsche 911 GT2 outlasts all comers
"The massively tuned No. 39 BMW 325is of Anthony Magagnoli and Kevin Kreisa was impressively consistent, coming through in fourth place..."

AutoGuide - 2010 One Lap of America Complete: Top 10 Finishers an Intriguing Mix of Machines
"Although the Top 3 cars might seem fairly predictable given that they’re three of the highest performance sports cars money can buy, there were also some old school and less obvious choices running near the front.
Claiming the SSGT2 class victory along with 4th place overall was Anthony Maganoli and Kevin Kreisa in their turbocharged 1989 DTR Performance BMW 325i."
